Ocean pollution art and reports

We are learning about our oceans this term. We have been investigating the topic of ocean pollution.
We created some art pieces with room 5 - world maps of crayon and dye, then we glued plastic shopping bags over the top (to represent the ocean pollution) and framed our art.
Did you know that every day we use enough plastic bags to tie together and wrap around the world 63 times?
Next we wrote reports about ocean pollution and published them to edmodo via the iPads.

Volcano documentaries

We have been working hard to create documentaries in iMovie about volcanoes. First we were divided into groups and we brainstormed the types of roles and jobs required to make a documentary.

We worked in our groups to decide who would take on each role. We brainstormed what kind of resources we would need - we decided on a range of apps to help us.

We used skitch to create our title and credits. We used puppet pals for some of the interviews and iMovie to put it all together.

We worked hard - we argued, negotiated, contributed ideas, cooperated and collaborated.

We wrote scripts, facts and credits. We recorded voice overs and chose theme music. We recorded puppet pals shows, rerecorded puppet pals shows and then did them again. We showed a lot of perseverance to achieve our end results.

Area and perimeter

We have been learning how to find the area and perimeter of a shape. First we made some acronyms to help us remember what equation we will use.

We have used the saying "Popsicles are tasty, freezing and messy" to help us remember.  It stands for "perimeter add, then for area multiply".  We made Popsicles and wrote "AM" (area multiply) and "PA" (perimeter add) on our Popsicles.

Now we are working on creating our own zoos and working out the perimeter and area of each enclosure.
