Our Solar Unit

This term we have been learning about the sun and its energy.

We have been working with Room 5 and 7.
First we brainstormed all the things we knew about the sun.
We have investigated the UV rays of the sun with solar beads that change colour in the sun.  We have explored solar power and energy.  We created solar ovens and robots that use the sun's energy to move.  We have looked at some myths and legends about the sun.  Then we created some amazing sun art as well as ebooks about the sun.

Fitness relays

We have moved on from skipping and jump jam in our fitness time. Now we are doing relays. We have been having lots of fun learning how to roll a hoop, skip through a hoop and work together to do physical tasks as a team.

More QR codes

We have made more QR codes. This time we put a short biography about ourselves in them and then we put our photo on the outside of the code.

QR codes

We have been learning how to make QR codes.
These are codes that contain information like websites and photos. We have put YouTube videos in our QR codes and used a QR Reader app to check they work.

Perseverance and Excellence

Our STRIVE focus this week is E for Excellence. Excellence requires perseverance and practice to achieve. Sometimes it requires a little help from others.

Folk art maps

We have been creating folk art maps of Dannevirke where the scale and perspective are a bit crazy.
We sketched plans in pencil. We used marker pens, paint, crayons and dye

We have been learning about ways to organise information. Here are some of the graphic organisers we have used so far.
